FAQs

Q.  Is Superior Exterior's cleaning safe for my children, pets and plants?
A.  Absolutely!  All of our cleaning is safe for people, pets and plants! We have an exclusive wash process which combines warm water with low pressure and safe, self neutralizing cleaning and rinsing agents.

Q. Will your cleaning damage my house paint?
A. Because we use our low pressure cleaning process and safe cleaning products, it is not possible to damage your paint.

Q. The last pressure washer I had forced  pressurized water behind my siding and damaged some of the seals around my windows. Will you used pressurized water on my siding and windows?
A.
We use only our exclusive Soft Wash cleaning for your home.  This is equivalent to the pressure from a garden hose.  Your home is safe in our hands.

Q. Will my windows be streaked?

A. No. Our customers are very happy with their windows when we are done.

Q. Will you be using my water? I am concerned about the amount of water you will use.

A. Superior Exterior's cleaning method used less water than any of our competitors. I typical house wash will use approximately 200 gallons of water.  If you are on a municipal/city water supply we recommend hooking up to your water.  If you are on a well, the we normally will suggest that Superior Exterior supply the water for cleaning your home.

Q. Should I be home when you are doing the work?

A.  It is not necessary for you to be home during the cleaning process, however please remember to close all windows and doors. We also ask that you clear your drive way for our equipment and remove all fragile items from around your house.

Q. What if it's raining? Can you still wash my house and deck?

A. Absolutely! Your house is going to get wet anyway. There is no difference between washing a house on a rainy or sunny day. We do reschedule when there is lighting or extremely heavy storms with rain and severe wind.

Q.Why do you clean with heated water? Is it safe?

A.  Why do you wash your dishes with heated water?  It simply cleans better. Mold feeds on microscopic organisms that are on the vinyl siding. Heated water effectively removes these microscopic organisms that cold water can not remove.   Heated water is perfectly safe in the hands of a professional power washer. We keep our water at about 130 degrees.  This will ensure that your home gets clean while your plants stay green.

 Q. How long have you been powerwashing houses?

A. Since 1987. We washed our first home in 1987. Upon moving to Charlottesville in 1993, we began washing homes full time in Charlottesville. We are a full time professional pressure washing company and wash approximately 600 homes a year.   Along with our powerwashing we do provide other services and are the most knowledgeable pressure washing company in the Charlottesville area.  We can include an inspection walk around with you if you'd like to discuss gutters, paint or carpentry issues you may have.  We know more than just powerwashing.

Q. I have small black dots on some areas of my siding.  What are these and can you get rid of them?

A. You have Artillery or Shotgun Fungus on your house.  These spores live in hardwood mulch beds and once they hatch, can jump up to 20 feet in any direction. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove these spores by power washing.  We do suggest that you remove all the hardwood mulch from around your home and use an alternative to hardwood mulches.  We have not found a way to safely remove these spores from siding or trim.
